Unexpected surprise

So Friday, I got a call from Mitch. Those who have followed my blog for a while will remember him. He was with his Dad on his way to Ontario and wanted to see if they could stop in for a visit. They arrived around supper time on Friday and we had a nice visit with both of them. It was nice seeing him again.

Kevin has moved into his own place this week from living with his parents. He took the kids for the whole weekend:) Now we’re going back to our schedule we had before he lived with his parents when we were in Miramichi. That means he’s spending more time with the kids, which they enjoy a lot, and more time for me to get things done.

I’ve discovered I’m addicted to samosas. They have them at the farmer’s market here and I wait impatiently all week to eat them;) Then make sure I definitely run 6 miles that day, haha.

Home stretch

I’ve officially lost another 11 lbs since I moved here. I’ve broken through the plateau and I’m on the home stretch, only 12 more lbs until I reach my target goal. At that point, I’ll evaluate if I need to lose any more or if I’m ok there.

Yesterday I found my high school yearbook and on a whim decided to call a couple of old classmates that live in Fredericton. We had a nice chat, got caught up on life etc. One of my friends I had already spoken to at my 10 year reunion in 1997 but the other friend I hadn’t spoken to since ‘87. Then what was really bizarre was last night I got an email from an old boyfriend in ‘88 who had found me at classmates.com.

Today is a house cleaning day. I better get to work.

Terrorist Alert

A friend of mine emailed this to me this week and thought I’d share it with you;)

Terrorist Alert - I knew Bush would find a solution!

At New York’s Kennedy International Airport today, an
individual, later discovered to be a public school
teacher, was arrested trying to board a flight while in
possession of a ruler, a protractor, a setsquare, a
slide rule, and a calculator.

Attorney General John Ashcroft believes the man is a
member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He is being
charged with carrying weapons of math instruction.

“Al-gebra is a very fearsome cult, indeed,” Ashcroft
said. “They desire average solutions by means and
extremes, and sometimes go off on a tangent in a search
of absolute value. They consist of quite shadowy
figures, with names like “X” and “Y “, and, although
they are frequently referred to as “unknowns”, we know
they really belong to a common denominator and are part
of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every
country. As the great Greek philanderer Isosceles used
to say, “there are 3 sides to every triangle.”

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush
said, “If God had wanted us to have weapons of math
instruction, He would have given us more fingers and
toes.”

Defining Self

This weekend, I signed a document with my maiden name for the first time in 13 years. After Kevin and I separated, I gave a lot of thought about taking my maiden name back. Initially, it didn’t feel right as I had been Lisa W. my whole adult life. Everyone knows me as Lisa W. Lisa R. was a girl of 20 and under. However, now, Lisa W. isn’t fitting right on me now either. So, I’ve decided it’s time for Lisa R. to age and be redefined as who she is now, an amalgamation of Lisa W. and Lisa R. In August, (my birthday), I am going to do a ritual with some friends to make “official” my assuming my maiden name again. I was going to wait until the divorce but the longer I wait the more confusing it is for potential clients, people I meet, etc. Since I didn’t legally change my name when I got married (it’s called assuming your spouses name), I can change it back now without a lot of difficulty. I’m feeling good about my decision and if I remarry I will keep my maiden name as well.

time for an update

I’ve been busy with work, busy with the kids, busy having fun. Played bball last night and my shoulder managed to stay in the socket;) I went out with the guys for a few drinks after the game and it was fun. There’s a holistic fair this Sat. that I’m attending and I will be networking and drumming up some business.

I’m going to be giving geocaching a try. A friend of mine might let me use his GPS and I think Alec would really enjoy it or at least I think I will;)

I see the rain is back again today, it must be too much to expect it to go more than 2 days without rain.
