Assimilation

I resisted it for the longest time but I’ve given in, true capitulation. The nefarious slang making it’s way through my words. I’m referring to online chatting. I use MSN to chat with many of my friends. I had no trouble adopting the LOL or ttyl, those seemed rather tame. I resisted the other ones though until recently I found myself using them. Dunno is littered through out my chats, as well as 4 instead of for or ty for thank you, yw for your welcome, k for ok (I mean how much longer does it take to type an o?). BFN - bye for now. Everything a shortened form. It’s scary actually, if I were to read over some of the transcripts of the chats, I’m sure we’d look like a bunch of illiterates. Despite the conversation topics being of interest, it looks like we’ve formed our own form of hood online talk. So at first I hated it, resisted it and then slowly it seeped through my consciousness and now I use it too, another person assimilated into the borg err I mean the online world.

Yesterday I went for a long bike ride, I had a lot of restless energy I needed to burn. I’d been doing the finishing work on a website I’ve been working on and I’m sick to death of staring at the computer screen. When I got back, I decided to chain my bike to a different post under my deck. Unfortunately, that was a bad idea. I discovered an unknown hornet’s nest under the deck when suddenly I got stung twice.
