And for today’s update

A friend of mine told me about this website called www.jibjab.com. For those who lean left, you’ll definitely get a kick out of it.

Alec is doing well. His wrist is healing and he is anxious to have his cast off. Bram went to the dentist this morning as his cavity was giving him pain recently. We know he has had a cavity for the past 6 months or so but the dentist wanted to wait until he was older to fill it. However, with the pain, we had to go in and have it taken care of. They couldn’t drill it because he wouldn’t be still enough so they dug it out by hand. Although he was really good about it overall.

I saw Hostage the other day. It’s not a bad movie, tugs at your heartstrings at times when the fear of kids getting hurt occurs. The ending was a bit anti-climatic though.

I had fully planned to do an April’s Fool’s joke on everyone. Although I wouldn’t have been able to pull of the biker guy eloping to vegas again story, lol. I did fool Kevin though. I told him I had changed Bram’s diaper in the morning and had found pinworms. He completely believed it and thought we were going to have to medicate, etc. hahaha.

I’m completely zonked tonight. Going to bed very early. Bram hasn’t been sleeping well lately because of his tooth. We’ve all had colds and been sick. I’m run down and definitely need some rest.

Divorce

Kevin and I are actively trying to get the divorce stuff taken care of finally. It’s been 18 months since the initial separation and now that the one year period has passed, it’s time to take care of it. That way him and Melisa can move to the next step should they choose to and I can as well. It’s expensive unfortunately, but it’s time for all of us, so we need to figure it out. I think it will be another part of closure on our life. Leaving behind another era and issuing in a new one.

Tired

I’m at work tonight. It’s crazy at work right now with getting everything ready for the Fall lineup. Not enough time, too much to do. I haven’t played bball in about 1 1/2 weeks and I’m feeling withdrawal. I soooo need a vacation. I can’t wait till the weather is even better and I can go biking, hiking and canoeing.

Weekend Synopsis

I’m at work this morning. Looking out the window at the sun and anxious to get outside. Hopefully in a couple of weeks things won’t be as busy, and I won’t have to do as much overtime. Friday night I went to Nackawick and cheered on the guys that I play bball with. I’m not allowed to play in the tournament being a woman, so I went to cheer them on. They lost…. abysmally, sigh. However we went to the Lunar Rogue after for drinks and forgot about the game, lol. Then Sat. I went to the market with a friend, then later played bball. I watched Finding Neverland last night. That was a beautiful and terribly tragic movie. This week my tournament games start for the women’s bball league I’m in.

So that’s my life in a nutshell, rather succinct I know. Not much happening really. This afternoon, I’m going to have the kids help me clean up the yard.

Mommy

I’m very rarely Mommy anymore. I mostly hear Mom, even from Bram. I remember when Alec first started wanting to call me Mom when he was 5. I wasn’t ready to be Mom and told him I still liked being called Mommy. He called me mostly Mommy until he was 6 and then Mom started to filter through his words more. Then after he turned 7, he would say Mom with much deliberation as is he had put so much thought into it. Now Bram has grown in a house where I am mostly Mom and so he calls me Mom most of the time too. It doesn’t pull at the heart strings like it did when Alec first started to call me Mom. It seems like we experience so much more of some things with our oldest children. That by the time the younger ones go through it, our hearts know that it is the normal process of our children growing up to find their own way.
