Mommy

I’m very rarely Mommy anymore. I mostly hear Mom, even from Bram. I remember when Alec first started wanting to call me Mom when he was 5. I wasn’t ready to be Mom and told him I still liked being called Mommy. He called me mostly Mommy until he was 6 and then Mom started to filter through his words more. Then after he turned 7, he would say Mom with much deliberation as is he had put so much thought into it. Now Bram has grown in a house where I am mostly Mom and so he calls me Mom most of the time too. It doesn’t pull at the heart strings like it did when Alec first started to call me Mom. It seems like we experience so much more of some things with our oldest children. That by the time the younger ones go through it, our hearts know that it is the normal process of our children growing up to find their own way.
