Women & Politics, do they really think this will be appealing?

Scott at the Sorry Centrist had posted about why more women weren’t involved in politics.

Well, I made my comment over there. But today I discovered his update, a few days later after my initial comment;

Who was the marketing & design team for this? I thought I was stuck in a time warp. I know pink is big for breast cancer and there’s pink tool belts. But this is ridiculous. Do they truly think the way to reach out to women in politics is to make the document pink with a pink rose and scattered pink roses all through it??? I know it’s their spoof of the Liberal’s Red Book. But I just think it’s tacky. All I can do is shake my head.

    Yeah, I thought the whole “pink book” concept was a little condescending in a skin crawling kind of way. The fact that Belinda was a major architect just adds to it.

    Honestly, the “Pink Book” kind of tickles me. It’s not like it was relesed as the official party platform for a General Election. I guess if I were a woman, I may have a different viewpoint. Alas, I can only comment on the way I see things from the vantage point God gave me :)

    I like the way BS has transformed her image by dying her hair brown. Uhhh.

    I’m not a Belinda fan, but my goodness, I wish the press would shut up about her hair already! No one talked about it this much when Stephen Harper went the ‘Just for Men’ route during the election. Most women get drastic hair changes every once in a while! I’ve gone varying shades of brown, red, black, purple at one point, and had blonde highlights. Granted, I’m not in politics, and maybe that makes a difference, but she’s just getting a change.

    About the Pink Book, I agree - Yuck. Too girly!

    She’s definitely no Gloria Steinem, that is for sure.
