Week Synopsis

Lots of little things to cover over the past week or so. First I wanted to wish my friend Andrea a wonderful happy birthday. She’s had a challenging time lately and deserves the best of birthdays.

Alec and I went to see the Harlem Globe Trotters on Tues. evening. I got him a ball and he had it autographed by all the players. I can remember the same excitement when I saw them as a kid and had a poster signed by them. It really is for the kids though, the staged game does kind of fall short of thrilling, but the entertainment and comedy is what makes it work. It was just a nice night for Alec and I to share some Mother and Son time.

The kids will be spending Easter with Kevin this weekend, so we did a sort of mini easter celebration last weekend. I gave them new outdoor stuff like bubbles and bubble blowers, some chocolate eggs, a ball and other little paraphernalia.

My Dad is coming down for a visit sometime this month. He’s going to be my handyman for a week and help me get some things fixed up around the house:)

I’ve struggled with migraines most of the week. Worst ones I’ve had in a while, hoping the worst of it is over now.

Not much else new, just been busy with work, kids and migraines. Our joint press release with Avon came out this week.

Oh and of course, the freakin’ SNOW today. I thought I was done shovelling for the year, guess not.

I suck

at racquetball. Today I played racquetball with a friend. I hadn’t played in over 20 years and even then I’d only ever played a couple of times. However, I’ve played tennis off and on over the years and I played badminton in college. I’m in ok shape, play basketball regularly, etc. so I thought I’d be able to at least hold my own. Nope. My friend hasn’t played either and he beat me on average 15-4 every game, sigh. It’s surpising the workout you get though it as it’s a small space to run in compared to say a basketball court, but you really work up a sweat running around (in circles at times it seemed, lol). And of course trying to avoid hitting yourself with the ball which I managed to do way too many times. However I think it would be a good sport for working out aggression, lol. It’s great to whack the ball against the wall, lol. I think I’ll definitely give it a whirl again.

A little extra on the side

So while I’m in Moncton for the wellness expo, I’ve got a hot date. I may even share the torrid details with everyone when I get back;) It’s bound to be blog worthy for sure. It’s been a while since I’ve had a date exposé to share;)

blogging and privacy

Sometimes I miss being able to blog about whatever I wanted. Or at least the naievty of not thinking about who might read my blog and the impact or perception it could create. Recently on Jordan’s blog, he brought up a good point in relation to something awful that happened in the blogosphere recently. When I blog now, I have to think about the company and any misperceptions that could occur. I have a disclaimer, but still, some people have lost their jobs over blogs. In some ways my blog has become watered down. Partially because I’ve been so busy, but partially because maybe talking about sex now wouldn’t be such a great idea, although my stats and comments were pretty high when I used to, lol - and for those of you who go searching through the archives looking for those posts, they’ve been deleted (and for those of you still curious, no it was never writing about my sexual escapades, lol. It was rather generic, educational type stuff;)). And yes I know we’re not supposed to edit our blog posts, but it is still essentially my blog and my choice. Heck even strong political views I have to be cautious of (although we all know what I really think;)). Yet the reality is that if someone was truly sick they could take anything we write about, our kids, our lives, whatever and twist it or write things that could potentially scare us.

So like everything in life, it’s about finding balance, what we feel comfortable writing about and giving some thought about who is reading, family, friends, employers, employees, clients, ex’s, future dates and so on. And probably eventually my kids, ack.;)

It must be a guy thing

Every week Alec has to do a current event. This week he did it on Sydney Crosby winning the Art Ross Trophy. Alec has started collecting hockey cards and start spitting off stats about different players and who’s on what team, etc. I’m glad he has something to share with his friends, to talk about except… Alec doesn’t even play hockey. He rambles on about stats and it’s a bit of deja vu because Kevin is the same way (or at least used to be) so he gets it honestly. But I think it’s also gotta be something linked to that y chromosome;) As you know I play basketball, played all through school as a kid. I know some names of the players and tidbits (afterall who doesn’t know about Steve Nash) and I know a bit about the teams. I couldn’t tell you who got the most points, etc. I rarely watch the games except for maybe play offs sometimes. Now, having said all that, I know plenty of guys that could care less about sports stats. But for the many, many guys out there who do follow them and know the intimate details about the players, their trades, what manager said what, do you think it might be that following sports like this is a bit of a male version of a soap opera as a friend of mine recently referred to it?;) Any men want to comment on that?;)
