Basketball & Sports

Tonight I am going to play basketball. I can’t wait. I used to play basketball in all my spare time, in school, weekends, summer camps, etc. I have my level 1 coaching for basketball too and coached my sister’s elementary school team many, many years ago. So having been away from it for about 12 years, I am really excited about getting back into it.

There’s a lot of things I can’t wait to do again, down hill skiing, x-country skiing, soccer, badminton and more. I’ve done some of these things intermittantly throughout the years but I used to do these things all the time. It’s felt natural and comfortable to finally become more in tune with the athletic side of me that has been missing for a lot of years.

Bball and exercise

This past weekend, I played in the Intermediate B, women’s bball tournament. We lost all three games, two of them were close and one was a really bad loss, sigh. I played well in two of the games, the third, well… no comment;) It was a beautiful weekend and I even managed to get more yardwork done yesterday. The kids have both been sick. I came home between games on Sat. and Kevin brought them home and they both just laid down on the couch and hardly moved for the two hours they were here. They are both starting to feel better, still battling a low grade fever and a nasty cough. I’ve had a chronic cold most of the winter it seems with only intermittant times where I didn’t have one.

I am also determined to get back into my get skinny phase, as I’m soooo close. That 10/15 lbs isn’t going to go away on it’s own. At work on my lunch, I’m taking advantage of the nice weather and going for a walk around the block. I also have to walk to and from my van to work which is a bit of a distance and gives me some more exercise. Back to running on the elliptical daily, etc.

I wish there were more hours in a day. I don’t have enough time to get all the things done that I want to.

Evening whining/rambling, might make sense, but unlikely

It’s 10:30 pm and I’m tired. I want to go to bed early for a change. Typically I head to bed around anytime between 1 and 2 am. I mowed my lawn both yesterday and today. It had gotten a little out of control and I think my neighbor’s were wondering about the hay field I was growing. It took 2 days because my lawnmower kept croaking in the long grass and needed time to recover. I since found out from my Dad, that I shouldn’t have let that happen or I’ll burn the motor out. Fortunately though, my grass doesn’t typically get this long, but with the trip to Montreal, then camping and work, there never seemed to be time. So it’s finally done. Then I spent the day working with either business stuff or one of my contracts that I still have with Goose Lane. I finally was feeling cage crazy so I went out and shot some hoops at the nasis field house. I’m retraining my shot. With my shoulder injury and my broken wrist from a gazillion years ago (age 20, slam dunking off a picnic table - DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF) my shot went to hell, so I’m finally now trying to shoot properly rather than the bad habit shot I’ve developed over time. I ran into a friend when I arrived there, we chatted a bit. Then I came home and got back to work on the company media kit that is being sent out tomorrow to some organizations. I’m feeling sluggish though and sleep deprived. I can only go so long with the late nights before I have a night where I just crash and I think I’m heading to it tonight. I’ll be in bed by 11 tonight, which will be early for me. The kids will be back home tomorrow.

Oh and for those of you who have been asking for pictures of the house, I’ve put up a set at flickr.

YAWN (hey, as I wrote that, I actually yawned, seems like the yawn effect of seeing someone yawn, also happens when writing the word yawn;))

Thanks everyone

I had a great birthday yesterday. Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes:) I played basketball last night and one of the guys took me out for a beer after the game. Although I think the highlight for the night was stuffing a 6′5 guy on our team as he went up for a shot. I’m not sure how that happened actually, he must have been really crouched down. I’m often the only woman that plays with these mostly 40+ year old guys. Occasionally there will be another female or so, but rarely. I’m not a great player, but I really enjoy it and it’s good exercise, fortunately the guys tolerate me;)

Back to the grind today, although suffering from a migraine. Finding it hard to think straight these last few days, been feeling icky and tired. As soon as I have more brain power, I’m going to blog about the upcoming NB election (I promised Spinks that I would;))
