Boston Here I come

I have to admit, that I always feel an excitement about travelling somewhere, even when it’s for work. The unknown, new sites to see, people to meet and things to do all kind of make me feel like a little girl, giddy with excitement, lol. So I’m heading to Boston this weekend. We’re sponsoring the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and we will have a booth at the Expo. I’ve been through Boston briefly by car. I’ve been in the airport, but it will be my first trip to actually visit and stay in Boston.

So what’s a must see in Boston?

Back Home

I had a fabulous time in Boston, way too short. There’s so much to see and do that it would take days to do it all. Sat. was mostly a work day, but St. Paddy’s Day I managed to see Quincy Market (and numerous drunk university students) and lots of packed Irish Pubs. Sunday I visited the Museum of Science and Planetarium. Then the New England Aquarium, which I have to admit was my highlight. I kept thinking that Alec would love to see all this stuff. I’d love to take the kids there for a visit. The city itself had character in all ways from the brownstone buildings and architecture to the Boston twanged folks. Everyone was very nice and I’ve got some great memories from the trip. I stupidly forgot my camera out sight seeing. I did manage to snap some shots from my hotel room, will check later if any turned out and post if they did.

So yes, I highly recommend Boston for a vacation. I’ll be back for sure with the kids.

When I returned home, a review copy of Single Mom Seeking was in my mail box. I’ve read the first few pages and I can already tell that I’m going to enjoy it immensely. I’ll post a review once I’m finished.

Finding Balance

I know I’ve blogged so many times about needing to find balance between my work, kids and life. So many times over the last 6 months or so, I’d try but get sidetracked with work or the kids were sick or I was sick and so on. There was always something that would throw me off. But really that’s the whole purpose of finding balance so that when life intervenes you don’t let everything fall apart. So I think I’m on the cusp of finding balance. I’m still working a lot but I’m making time for me again. I’m working out again, putting in my 10,000+ steps/day, eating right, quit caffeine again and feel great. The business is doing well, I’m dating, catching up with friends and enjoying my time with the kids.

This summer is going to be amazing. I’m planning to hike Mt. Katahdin and finally learn how to kayak. They were on my list 2 summers ago, so it’s time. And maybe even squeeze in that scuba diving course I’ve been wanting to take. And I’d like to take the kids to Boston. Maybe before long, I’ll be able to get my bike out:) I’m hoping this is the year that Bram learns how to ride without training wheels.

So yeah, I’m in a good frame of mind:)
